Amba Ghat

This place is located between Karad and Ratnagiri. It is approx. 233km from Pune. (You can refer to Google Maps for more information on the route plan).
It is a beautiful, serene retreat for those who are looking out to relax in the lap of nature for a couple of days.

There are some very nice resorts like The Vanashree Resort, Pavan Khind Resort, Manali Resort, Amba Resort etc. We had stayed at Vanashree Resort which belong to Mr. Deshpande of Kolhapur. It is a very well maintained, hygienic, clean and economical place to stay. It is just 1 km away from the jungle adjoining the State Highway. The people at the resort are very  nice and hospitable. You can get good breakfast and food at this resort, both veg and non-veg as per your choice.
The best part of visiting this place is the night jungle safari for which you have to pay Rs. 800 a trip per vehicle. If you are lucky you will definitely see Bison, Wild Cat, Sambar, Jungle Fowl, Hares, Porcupine etc. which are the known animals of this region. There are leopards too but visible sometimes only to the very lucky ones. Besides, the birds and flowers found in this area are also very interesting. The ride through the forest in the day as well as night is a memorable experience. If you go to the jungle early in the morning, just before sunrise, you can feel the fog and also get to see the Jungle Fowl. If you are going in the month of December-January carry plenty of warm clothes as the weather can get very chilly.

You must visit the Waghzhara Point, Konkan Point, Amba Dam, Pavan Khind  Point, The ancient Shiv temple near Vanashree Resort and have a cup of warm tea from the stalls on the Amba Ghat while viewing the beautiful valley beneath and enjoying the pleasant breeze as you watch the Sun set. You will only know what I am saying when you experience it yourself. So if you are looking for a breakthrough from your busy urban life, just take a break and go to Amba.
